Build the Future: Prek Kyang Primary School
In a quiet Cambodian village where dreams once sat in silence, a community rises to build schools in Cambodia—starting with Prek Kyang Primary School. This transformative campaign isn’t just about bricks and books, but about creating education for Cambodian children that nurtures hope, dignity, and a future shaped by compassion.

Build the Future: Prek Kyang Primary School
Every child deserves a safe space to learn. In the heart of Cambodia’s Prek Kyang village, 113 eager young students are striving for education in a fragile wooden structure—three rooms, overcrowded and under-equipped. Two of these serve as classrooms for Prek Kyang Primary School, often squeezing in over 50 children, where teachers work tirelessly, side by side, with minimal tools and maximum heart.
This is not a lack of ambition. It is a lack of infrastructure. To build schools in Cambodia is to invest in education for Cambodian children—and it’s time we change that.
From Legacy to Leadership
The Sao Sary Foundation was born from one man’s fight to protect the vulnerable. Mr. Sao Sary, one of the few survivors of the Khmer Rouge regime, devoted his life to rebuilding communities through education and protection. In 1979, with minimal education and unimaginable grief, he saved 1,000 starving villagers—organizing the dead, feeding the living, and planting seeds of resilience. Though he was assassinated in 1997, his legacy lives on.
In 2006, his oldest son Uon Vichetr founded the Sao Sary Foundation to continue this mission and build schools in Cambodia that deliver education for Cambodian children. Phase 1 of our journey brought clean water, school sponsorships, and protection programs to thousands. Now, in Phase 2, we’re focused on sustainable infrastructure—starting with the construction of Prek Kyang Primary School, a cornerstone of community-led transformation.
Why Prek Kyang, Why Now?
While Cambodia continues to develop, funding to build schools in Cambodia remains limited. Government master plans guide school construction, often leaving rural villages like Prek Kyang waiting years for proper investment. Today, Prek Kyang Primary School stands as an unsafe, overcrowded facility with no basic sanitation—yet 113 students rely on it for their education. We must act now to ensure safe, sustainable education for Cambodian children.
Our Goal:
Build a five-classroom, government-standard school building, where each classroom accommodates no more than 23 students, ensuring dignity, safety, and focus for every child.
Our Vision:
Prek Kyang Primary School will meet international standards with digital learning hubs, solar-powered classrooms, clean water and sanitation, and a safe playground—empowering children to learn, thrive, and grow.
More Than a Building
This is about more than bricks—it’s about dignity and opportunity. When we build schools in Cambodia, like Prek Kyang Primary School, we create spaces where education for Cambodian children becomes a gateway to lasting change. In our previous work in Koh Kong Province, we’ve delivered:
339 sets of uniforms for confidence and equality
113 bicycles to eliminate unsafe travel
113 schoolbags with full stationery kits for pride in learning
2 laptops and 1 printer to strengthen administration
These efforts weren’t just supplies—they were pathways to possibility, and a testament to what happens when we invest in education, infrastructure, and hope.
Your Impact Starts at $1
We’re raising $50,000 to complete Phase 1 and build schools in Cambodia, starting with Prek Kyang Primary School. Every dollar builds momentum toward safe, sustainable education for Cambodian children:
$5,000 lays the foundation
$10,000 secures roofing and ventilation
$20,000 brings tech and sanitation
Whether you give $1 or $1,000, your support fuels more than construction—it becomes part of a legacy that stretches from 1979 to 2036. Every gift writes a new chapter in Cambodia’s story of resilience and education.
