Help Us Build 75 Borehole Wells by 2035 for Cambodia’s Poorest Families

In rural Cambodia, water shouldn’t be a distant dream. Yet for thousands of families, that’s exactly what it is—an exhausting daily task, a costly burden, a reason children miss school and parents forgo work. That’s why the borehole well project Cambodia exists—not just to deliver clean water, but to restore dignity and opportunity.
Since 2006, Sao Sary Foundation has been digging deep—literally. What began with a few hand-dug open wells has become a life-changing mission. Through our borehole well project Cambodia, we’ve built and handed over more than 60 borehole wells, each shared by 15 to 27 families, embedded in the heart of small communities where the need is greatest.
⏳ Before the Borehole: A Daily Struggle
Imagine having to cycle 3 to 7 kilometers every day just to find water. Entire families—mothers, fathers, children—once devoted hours to collecting water from rivers and ponds that dried up for 3 to 6 months after the rainy season. In these dry periods, families had no choice but to buy water from vendors, spending up to $25 per week just to survive.
This heartbreaking reality is exactly what the borehole well project Cambodia seeks to change. The cost of water didn’t just drain finances—it stole time from farming, income generation, and most painfully, from their children’s education. With every new well installed, we reclaim those hours, restore livelihoods, and return hope to families who’ve waited far too long for something as basic as clean water.
🌱 The Change We’ve Already Made
With borehole wells placed centrally among homes through the borehole well project Cambodia, collecting water now takes less than five minutes. Children who once biked miles now walk to school. Parents plant gardens and launch small businesses. Domestic animals drink safely. Dignity returns. Futures expand.
This is what happens when clean water is no longer a luxury—but a right, a reality, made possible by the transformative reach of the borehole well project Cambodia.
🚀 The Goal: 75 More Wells by 2035
From now through 2035, we aim to expand the borehole well project Cambodia by building 75 additional wells. That means clean water access for over 1,500 families. It means freedom. It means a future where no child has to choose between hydration and education.
