Empowering Cambodia’s Future: SSF’s 2024 Educational Support Impact Report

At the Sao Sary Foundation (SSF), we believe every child deserves a future shaped by learning, dignity, and hope.

Since 2006, our mission on educational support in rural Cambodia has been clear: empower vulnerable children and families through sustainable, community-led interventions. And in 2024, thanks to strategic collaboration and fundraising for Cambodian children and communities, we took that mission even further.

Why Educational Support in Rural Cambodia Matters

Across Cambodia, especially in rural provinces, children face overwhelming barriers to learning—poverty, distance, malnutrition, and lack of school supplies. Though national infrastructure is improving, educational support in rural Cambodia continues to lag behind, leaving thousands of students at risk of dropping out.

At SSF, we see education as the most powerful tool to break this cycle. That’s why our programs target not only students, but schools, families, and communities—building a holistic support network through direct action and strategic partnerships.

2024 Highlights: Delivering Hope, One Student at a Time

In partnership with Ark Electronics and the General Department of Technical and Materials from Cambodia’s Ministry of National Defense, SSF delivered tailored aid to one of Koh Kong Province’s poorest schools. This initiative embodies our commitment to impactful educational support in rural Cambodia.

• 339 School Uniforms (Three Sets Per Student) Clean clothes promote dignity and equity. With three sets per child, we eased the financial burden on families and helped students focus on their studies.  “Now I feel proud to go to school every day,” said a 10-year-old recipient. “I don’t have to worry about wearing the same dirty clothes.”
• 113 Bicycles for Rural Students In remote villages, children often walk for hours to reach school. These bicycles eliminated unsafe commutes and dramatically improved attendance.
• 113 Schoolbags with Complete Stationery Sets Each student received notebooks, pencils, rulers, and coloring kits—tools that empower students to learn confidently and independently.  “Before, I had to borrow pencils from my friends,” shared one girl. “Now I have my own. I feel like a real student.”
• 2 Laptops and 1 Printer for School Administration These digital tools help administrators manage student records, coordinate with teachers, and improve school efficiency—all essential to sustaining educational support in rural Cambodia.
